REGCEL water level analysis tool
The REGCEL water level analysis model can be utilised in assessing the impact of water level fluctuation in regulated lakes and comparing regulation alternatives. With help of the REGCEL–model it is possible to calculate values for more than 50 water level parameters, which describe indirectly the impacts of water level fluctuation on the littoral fauna and flora, as well as some fish species and birds nesting near the shoreline. In addition, some parameters describe the impacts on scenery and on different forms of recreational use. The model has been developed by the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) in 1999-2000, and it has been applied in more than 100 lake cases in Finland. REGCEL has also been utilised in the provisional designation of heavily modified water bodies in the implementation process of the WFD in some other European countries. Outside Europe, the model has been tested at least in the Mekong River in Cambodia.
The REGCEL tool is very complicated expert application. Therefore, it can't be made available through the Watersketch Toolbox. If you are interested of applying REGCEL, see more information under the link Contact.
